The Nigeria Police Force said it had arrested the four suspected kidnappers of five students of the Nigeria Turkish International College (NTIC), Isheri, Ogun, and three members of staff of the school.
The suspects are: Bekewei Agbojule, aka “Prince Yellow”, 29, Philip Kakadu, aka “General Kakadu”, Romeo Council, aka “Raw” and Totki Okoda, 34.
A statement issued by the Force spokesman, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Don Awunah, said Okoda who resided in the creek behind the school, provided information for the gang.
He said item recovered from the suspects was N1.2 million.
Awunah said in the course of investigation, the suspects were trailed and arrested at different locations in Delta, Ogun and Lagos States respectively.
He said further investigation led to the arrest of Bekewei Agbojule aka “Prince Yellow”, a principal suspect and one of the key members of the gang on the January 25.
“One million two hundred thousand naira, his share of the ransom money, was recovered from him.
“The four suspects confessed to the crime, volunteered useful statements to the investigators and are cooperating with the Police,” he said.
He said concerted efforts were being made to arrest the remaining suspects who are at large.
Awunah said all the suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
He said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, assured Nigerians of the Police continuous efforts to prevent crime and eliminate the fear of crime.
Idris urged Nigerians to be law abiding and continue to support the personnel of the Force deployed in their various localities.
The victims who were abducted on Jan. 13, 2017, had already regained their freedom.
They were released by their abductors on January 24 at about 7.30 p.m.
