Authorities at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have outlawed what it refers to as 'awaiting results' in the entry level examination for tertiary institutions in the country.
The implication is that candidates who do not have qualified O’levels results or the right combination of results for admission will be denied admission beginning from the 2017/2018 academic session, even if they made very good marks in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME).
JAMB's Head of Information, Fabian Benjamin gave this indication on Tuesday, through a statement made available to the media.
Benjamin said JAMB came up with the decision, following a thorough review of the admission processes, and it observed that some candidates gain admission to tertiary institutions without the requisite qualifications only for other qualified candidates to be denied opportunities for admissions.
