BREAKING: Senate Removes Ali Ndume As Leader

The Senate has removed Ali Ndume as the Leader of the Senate and has announced Senator Ahmed Lawan as his successor.

The removal of Ndume was a palace coup as the Borno State born senator was in the chambers for today's plenary where he functioned as the Leader of the Senate.

The removal was the last statement made by Senator Bukola Saraki, the Senate President at a time Ndume has reportedly excused himself to use the convenience.

His replacement, Lawan was the one approved by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to occupy the seat of APC caucus leader when he (Lawan) lost out in the race for the Senate Presidency.

Ndume, a staunch supporter of Saraki had reportedly incurred the wrath of the Saraki loyalists following his open support for the embattled Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal.

Lawal and Magu are adjudged enemies of the senate.

Saraki in announcing the removal of Ndume read from a letter allegedly written to him by the APC caucus, announcing the removal of Ndume as it's leader and his replacement with Lawan.
