Cameroon forward Benjamin Moukandjo says his team holds no fear for Algeria ahead of the teams’ 2018 World Cup qualifier on Sunday night.
The Fennec Foxes and the Indomitable Lions will meet in the most eagerly anticipated fixture of the first matchday of group fixtures in the African zone, with both sides high on form and confidence after enjoying excellent qualification campaigns for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
While Algeria will enjoy the favourites tag due to playing on home soil in Blida, Moukandjo insists that Cameroon are in no intimidated by the North Africans.
“We have a lot of respect for Algeria, but we do not fear them at all,” said the Lorient attacker told El Heddaf TV in the build-up to Sunday night’s match.
“We will have before us some very good players with excellent individual qualities, but they will come up against a formidable team.”
The 27-year-old added, “It is a pleasure to play these games with the national team. I hope we will have the desired result.”
Kick-off in Blida on Sunday night will be at 21h30 CAT.
